Kananaskis Wedding Photographer | Kaliegh & Mike’s Wedding | Nakoda Lodge

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Back we go to June for this awesome wedding at Nakoda on the Lake in Kananaskis at the foot of the Rocky Mountains on the way to Canmore that I second shot with John Boccabella Photography. It was a super windy day as I drove toward the mountains after leaving Calgary. Luckily the weather didn’t get anymore unruly, although I think the kids definitely struggled with trying to walk around in the wind! The ceremony was outside the lodge on a huge lawn overlooking the lake and the mountains… beautiful! The reception was inside the rustic lodge and was beautifully decorated for Mike and Kaliegh’s reception. I got to take lots of detail shots, so that was pretty awesome and I got photograph the guys getting ready, which was super fun!

Here’s the classic watching-youtube-trying-to-figure-out-how-to-tie-a-windsor-knot shot… it’s not so easy!

The best man had some pretty awesome cuff links!

Check out the guys in the background with their shirts pulled tighter with gaffer tape… that stuff is a life saver!

The winds were so intense during the ceremony I thought the poor little ringbearer and flower girl were going to get blown over as they walked down the aisle!

Kananaskis Wedding Photographer: Kaliegh & Mike’s wedding at Nakoda Lodge | Sneak peek

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

I was all set to have last weekend off and not shoot any weddings, but was lured to the Canmore area because I wanted to shoot with John Boccabella again. He always has such beautiful weddings. So I packed up friday morning and got hopelessly lost on my way to Canmore. Turns out it was Kananaskis that I was heading to and my GPS didn’t have the sense to tell me otherwise. I admit I got a little bit lost in an absolutely gorgeous part of the province, but I finally made my way to Nakoda on the Lake (I was still an hour early, whew, good thing I planned to be extra early… or good thing i’m not opposed to driving really fast….) where the wedding was going to take place. It was an extra windy day and I swear I saw a small child fly through the air at one point. Ok, not true, but the extra cute ring bearer and flower girl seemed to have a hard time walking down the aisle against the wind. Despite the wind, it was a gorgeous wedding and I was so happy to be there to help capture it. Here’s on of my favourite’s from the portrait session with lots more to come later!
