I admit it… I’ve really fallen behind on the blogging this wedding season because it’s been so crazy busy! I’m getting caught up now, at least on the sneak peeks and then we can look forward to the full blog posts later in the fall for all of the fabulous weddings I photographed this year!
Here’s a sneak peek from Katie & Richard’s wedding at the Edmonton Hotel & Convention Centre back in August. We did all of their photos inside the hotel and it was nice because it was so darn hot out and I didn’t get sunburned! Was a good day!! Everything happened at the hotel too, so it was nice to have the whole day there and not have to battle traffic on a wedding day too.
If you can’t tell, Katie had an awesome grey wedding dress! She’s the kinda girl who is after my heart… When my husband and I have our vow renewal, I’ll be wearing grey too! I love this shot of a little snuggly action in the hallway with Katie & Richard. We had such a great time at their wedding!

I finished up my super triple header weekend back in Edmonton with Jennifer & Ryan’s fabulous daytime wedding at the Hotel MacDonald. I met up with the bride & groom at Ryan’s parents home where Jennifer was getting ready early in the morning. The couple chose to do their first look there with Ryan waiting at the bottom of the stairs as Jennifer came into sight up top where we walked up to greet her. I love when a couple chooses to see each other before the ceremony since that first look at each other seems to be so much sweeter. It was a beautiful moment with all of their close family watching. Shortly thereafter we headed outside to do a few shots before their wedding with their motorcycle in the street in front of the house. I love that a lot of my couples are really into riding motorcycles, and of course, I love the chance to incorporate the bikes into their wedding photos. So much chrome and metal, it’s just perfect for me!
We set up up the bike in the middle of the street, and luckily, since it was a quiet Sunday morning, we didn’t have a lot of traffic to deal with. Jennifer & Ryan snuggled close and I got this fabulous shot of the in the mirror. I love it! It shows of the bike beautifully and it’s a sweet, intimate moment between awesome people. I love it even more since it’s in black and white, it’s easily my favourite photo from the day! Shortly after, they hopped in the limo and were whisked off to the Hotel MacDonald where we did more of their formal portraits and photos with family and friends before the wedding ceremony in the Jasper Room.

We’re going back a couple weeks here (I was doing so well with staying on top of blogging some of the sneak peeks for a little while earlier in the summer but things had gotten a little busy for this Edmonton wedding photographer!) to the 2nd fabulous wedding I had that weekend (a triple header weekend, kinda crazy, but was awesome!) with Sharla and Will. Their fabulous wedding was on Sharla’s parents’ acreage just south of Edmonton. It’s the kinda spot that I dream about for weddings and it was spectacular! It’s so amazing that I was trying to talk them into renting out their backyard for future weddings, it’s just perfect! You’ll get to see lots more of it later on when the full wedding post is ready to go.
After the ceremony, we headed off to the south side of the bridge where the North Saskatchewan River goes through Devon for the first round of the formal photos. Ok, i’m not even going to talk about the mosquitos we battled up until this point… So I had Sharla & Will hop the guardrail and wander down to perch on top of the big rocks on the bank of the river to snuggle amongst the weeds and wildflowers. I love how they are so intent on each other and were able to enjoy a few minutes ”alone” to get beautiful, candid couple’s photos. At this point, they were the only two people in the world and it’s just beautiful! Of course, this sweet, intimate moment was witnessed by me, Corry-lyn and the rest of the wedding party, but I kinda think they forgot we were even there!

It’s been a really tough summer for Edmonton wedding photographers with really unpredictable weather bringing crazy rain and thunderstorms all the time it seems. It rained for a few hours before Nathan and Katrina’s wedding ceremony and for a little while there, we were all afraid that it wouldn’t stop! Luckily the rain subsided and the sun started to peek out just before the ceremony at Robertson Wesley United Church near downtown Edmonton. After the lovely ceremony we headed off to the High Level Bridge to get wedding party photos and to give Nathan & Katrina a little alone time in front of the camera (I know, not really alone since I was there, but good enough!) with a pretty cool industrial background. We left downtown and headed north to St. Albert in hopes of catching a little bit of the canola fields before it was done for the summer but we were a bit too late… we just caught a little bit of yellow but we were swarmed by the mosquitos so badly that we just opted leave the fields and to finish up at the Enjoy Centre (one of my favourite wedding venues in the Edmonton area) before the reception and we managed to get our yellow on the moving sidewalk which is one of my favourite spots at the Enjoy Centre. The combination of the bright yellow, silvery metal and all that gorgeous light coming through through the glass ceiling just makes this location magical! I also love Katrina’s amazing Badgely Mischka shoes poking out in this shot too!

Helan & Jamie were married just a few days ago on Friday, July 13, 2012. Yup, they had a Friday the 13th wedding and I thought that was super cool! One would think that having a wedding on Friday the 13th would be terribly bad luck, but no, it was pretty awesome. Ok, so there were a few blips in the day with the getting ready portion of the day running a bit longer and pushing back the ceremony by an hour, but that was no biggie. The only bad luck of the day was bringing the wrong rings to the ceremony…. oops! So , I don’t have ring shot since we didn’t have the right rings, but we’ll take care of that later. Otherwise it was a perfect day! Smoke had blown in to town from the forest fires up North and most people would think that’s a bad thing, but the slight smoky haze helped create beautiful diffused light for the ceremony and the photos that we took outside in the garden. Helan & Jamie’s ceremony and reception took place at the Oasis Centre in the West end of Edmonton. It was my first wedding there, and well, I have fallen in love! It’s an amazing venue!! This particular image was taken near the end of the evening and I was feeling a little experimental and though it would be fun to take a photo through the large aquarium in the foyer of the Oasis. I thought it was going to look cool, but it turned out even better than I expected!

June has been an interesting month for Edmonton wedding photographers battling with unpredictable weather and lots of rain. This past Friday I joined Chantel & Matt for their lovely wedding at the Country Lodge which is on the edge of the city in Edmonton. The Country Lodge has a very warm and rustic feel and is quite cozy inside. There’s a pretty spot for outdoor wedding ceremonies too. It had been a few years since I had photographed a wedding at the Country Lodge (All the way to back to 2009 for Chris & Lexie’s wedding actually!) and boy had things changed around there. The venue used to be surrounded by fields and forests and I had a quite a surprise when I arrived finding it was basically right beside the new highway… although we still managed to find some pretty spots to tuck into for photos even after all that rain earlier in the day. It pretty much poured until about 15 minutes before the ceremony started… whew, we were lucky! It just took a quick wipe down of the chairs and we were set for the outdoor ceremony.
This is one of my favourite photos from Chantel & Matt’s “formal” photo session before we all wilted from the sun that finally came out. It’s just a little trail off of the side of the road with pretty light that was just perfect for this photo. You can’t tell… but at this point Chantel had kicked off her shoes and was going barefoot
