Monica & Evan had wanted a winter wedding but it got shuffled to late June so that more friends and family could attend. They wanted a Banff wedding and it was all set to go at the beautiful Banff Springs hotel and then the mountains and a good chunk of Southern Alberta flooded just days before their wedding. We were lucky up here in Edmonton and had really no idea what the destruction was like down South and had hoped that the wedding would still go ahead with the plan to have the ceremony at Two Jack Lake (one of my favourite places for photos in Banff) and then to the reception at the Banff Springs. Friday morning, the day before the wedding, we all realized it wasn’t going to happen in Banff so we did what we could to make sure Monica & Evan had an amazing wedding in Edmonton! I found the perfect spot for the new ceremony location, picking a spot that I think would rival any Banff scenery and got help from my friends at A Modern Proposal Event Planning and fabloomosity to help put together a beautiful ceremony set up and finding a marriage commissioner at such short notice (Thanks so much Juli & Janine, your help meant a lot to me!). Monica’s sister also did a great job in finding a florist for the bridal party bouquets (Awesome Blossom, I think) on such short notice and the bouquets were so pretty. We stayed at Whitemud Park for family photos and photos with the wedding party before heading to the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald for the wedding reception (The Fairmont was so helpful in making the reception in Edmonton be just as amazing as it would have been in Banff). Monica’s Mom made the beautiful centrepieces for the reception and they were lucky to still have all of their winter-themed decor with them so it all turned out perfectly! The best part? The sno-cones that were a hit at the reception! It really couldn’t have been a better day for such a sweet couple! Congratulations Monica & Evan!!
Thank you to Rachel from Rachel J Photography for second shooting this beautiful wedding with me!
